MITTELDEUTSCHE ZEITUNG Wie im vergangenen Jahr wird die Aufführung ergänzt durch eine Ausstellung. “Wasteland vs. Marquis de Sade” heißt sie diesmal. Gezeigt werden großformatige Fotos von Michel Valentino aus Berlin. Valentino, Jahrgang 1972, versteht sich als gesellschaftskritischer Warner, wie er im Gespräch mit der MZ erklärt. Ein Pessimist sei er deshalb noch lange nicht, “ich bin eher positiv und optimistisch”, findet Valentino. Seit er selbst Vater geworden ist, treibe ihn die Frage der Zukunft der Welt noch stärker um. SPANKYSTOKES I am going to try and start highlighting an artist every Monday from Behance Network, this being said the first is Michel Valentino. Michel’s work caught my eye immediately! Honestly though when someone says that photograph or piece of art evokes emotion, they could be using Michel’s work for the basis of that comment. The lighting, composition and subject matter is so spot on and leaves me wanting to see more. WASTELAND VS. MARQUIS DE SADE Die Gregor Seyffert Compagnie Dessau präsentiert vom 1. August bis zum 14. September im ehemaligen Kohlekraftwerk Vockerode anlässlich der einmaligen Fortsetzung des Cross-Genre-Spektakels “Marquise De Sade” eine Sonderausstellung des berliner Multimedia Künstlers Michel Valentino. Das Spektrum reicht von religiösen und philosophischen Ansätzen zu den Themen Leben, Schmerz und Tod, bis zu politischen und gesellschaftlichen Sichtweisen. Das Besondere: Alle Kunstwerke treten in einen unmittelbaren Dialog mit dem Veranstaltungsort und der Inszenierung, und werden direkt auf sie bezogen und integriert. Das KRAFTWERK & MARQUIS DE SADE – wird dadurch von der Plattform zum Körper dieser Ausstellung. |

INTERVIEW by CLAYTON MAXWELL for EYEMAZING MAGAZINE …I see myself more as a catalyst of the things around me, as a media artist. I collect (mind) pictures and impressions and try to interpret these. I still do commercials and music videos for international industries, which is fun, but that work does not give me much sense, and so I searched for another medium to express my feelings and thoughts better. I am not a rebel or anarchist, and in my work I become a realist. ARTS BLOG ITALY by MARGHERITA Guerre, violenza, moda. L’apocalittico mondo di Michel Valentino Apocalittico o utopico, questo è il mondo come lo immagina l’artista Michel Valentino, un mondo dominato da potere politico, guerre, spettacolo, moda e tecnologia. L’artista colleziona mentalmente immagini che vede nella realtà e le interpreta attraverso il suo sguarda che definisce da bambino. In “Wasteland - Children of the Evolution”, ha immaginato un mondo in cui gli uomini feriti e malati, indossano maschere di ossigeno a causa di un cataclisma globale e muoiono lentamente fino a mangiarsi tra di loro. L’ispirazione gli è venuta dalla città di Berlino, dalla sporcizia e violenza che domina le strade, e le maschere di ossigeno perché vengono vendute nelle bancarelle. Nella storia rappresentano anche simbolicamente l’atmosfera soffocante in cui viviamo, provocata dalla moda che sembra dominare ogni cosa. Ma la sua è una denuncia allargata a tutte le città perché la violenza, la moda, l’invasione delle telecamere di sorveglianza, della propaganda commerciale per non parlare dei miti idioti contemporanei, è mondiale. Dietro ad ogni storia c’è un lavoro elaborato non solo per quanto riguarda la trama ma anche per gli strumenti utilizzati. A questo proposito Valentino non si definisce un fotografo, semmai un artista multimediale, dato che utilizza più mezzi insieme come fotografia,video, arte digitale e modellini, per realizzare i suoi lavori. Nel 2009 molti dei suoi lavori fotografici da “Toys - Games Without Frontiers” a “Wasteland - Children of the Evolution” verranno esposti al Reflex Miniature Museum of Contemporary Art di Amsterdam. Michel Valentino, ein Meister der düsteren Bilderkunst. Die Szenarien flashen schon ganz schön. Die Hauptstadt brummt; denn da ist der Künstler / sein Studio ansässig. Wenn ich mal dort bin, legt die Masken bereit Leute, ich komm auf ne Session rum, definitiv! Es gibt einfach Künstler und die dazugehörigen Werke die mich nicht mehr loslassen. ENDZEITSTIMMUNG IN BERLIN by RAYNAY 76 Klingt jetzt ein wenig düster, trifft aber auf einen dort ansässigen Künstler definitiv zu. Bin heute rein zufällig über diesen Blog gestolpert, und schon war ich hin und weg von diesem Künstler - Michel Valentino. Seine Bilder und Szenarien gefallen mir außerordentlich. Die “Wasteland” Serie erinnert ein wenig an das Artwork des Marilyn Manson Album ” Antichrist Superstar ” ( dies ist im positiven Sinne zu verstehen ) und das Bühnenoutfit desselbigen aus den guten Anfangstagen. Auch die anderen Arbeiten sind sehr gelungen, und ich glaube, dass sich zumindest für mich, neben H.R.Giger und Gottfried Helnwein, nun ein weiterer Künstler einreiht, der meinen Geschmack trifft… RAY, 11.
